Borussia Dortmund hosted Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga on Saturday evening, but it was the German giants who emerged victorious with a 4-0 victory at the Signal Iduna Park.

The match saw Bayern dominate possession and create numerous chances throughout the first half, but it was not until the second half that they broke through. With just under half an hour to go, Bayern midfielder Joshua Kimmich found himself unmarked in the penalty area, and he slotted home from close range to give his side a 1-0 lead.

Dortmund responded quickly, however, and equalized within minutes thanks to a brilliant strike from Jadon Sané. The winger's effort beat goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and nestled into the bottom corner of the net to level the scoreline.

However, Bayern were not finished there, and they added further lustre to their already impressive display with two more goals in quick succession. First, Serge Gnabry scored from the penalty spot after being brought down by Dortmund defender Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, before Gnabry himself doubled Bayern's lead with a neat finish from close range.

With three goals in the space of ten minutes, Bayern Munich looked well on course for victory, and they did not disappoint. In the closing stages, Bayern midfielder Thiago Alcântara completed the scoring with a clinical finish from outside the box.

In contrast, Dortmund struggled to find any real rhythm in the second half, and they were left to rue their missed opportunities. Despite this, they will be proud of their efforts against one of Europe's top clubs, and manager Lucien Favre will no doubt be encouraged by the performance of his players.

Overall, it was another dominant display from Bayern Munich, who continue to dominate the Bundesliga and set new records with each passing game. As for Dortmund, they will have to look back on this defeat with some regret, but they can take heart from the fact that they provided a stern test for one of the world's best teams.
